Utility Billing Solutions has many options for utility billing services.
Total Capture: Each unit within the property is sub-metered and bills are generated based on the consumption of the utility measured by each sub-meter.
Allocation: Allocation involves measuring a partial amount of a utility consumed. Allocation is used when total capture is not practical, usually due to the layout of the existing plumbing infrastructure. Allocation usage is totaled and compared to the total utility quantity billed. Once this is complete, formulas are used to calculate the unmeasured use to arrive at the total utility use per unit. Allocation is necessary for some properties and several states have laws that dictate how allocation is used.
Ratio Utility Billing Systems (RUBS): This option is usually used when total capture and allocation are not applicable due to existing plumbing infrastructure. RUBS is the distribution of utility costs to residents using predefined, uniformly implemented methods. Methods of RUBS calculations can be based on the number of utility consuming fixtures per unit, number of people per unit and/or square feet per unit.
